Burns
issues report, recommendations

U.S. Rep. Max Burns, R-Sylvania, Monday issued a report from a
recent economic summit in the 12th Congressional District.
The
''Savannah River Summit: Shaping the Region's Future Economy''
report contains several development recommendations and was produced
by the Public
Forum Institute,
an independent, non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to
fostering public discourse.
Specific
recommendations include developing a Cancer Center for Excellence in
the region; incorporating life skills and vocational training in all
levels of education; identifying and promoting the innovation needs
of existing manufacturers; instituting new programs to train life
sciences technologists; and supporting value-added efforts for
agriculture processing.
