by stimulating entrepreneurship in local communities.
Lunch will be

Entrepreneurship
has been an important factor in the economic success of the United States,
creating new jobs and providing the new technology and innovation
necessary for growth. A surprisingly large number of Americans are
involved in the entrepreneurial process, either in starting their own
company or through employment by the nearly 500,000 new businesses created
every year. While entrepreneurship continues to be a powerful force in the
American economy, and much attention is given to the number of jobs
created by entrepreneurs, there currently is little discussion on the
appropriate public policy agenda needed to support high-growth
entrepreneurship.
There
are an array of federal policy issues that have a direct impact on those
who assume the risk of starting a business, including reducing regulatory burdens,
protecting intellectual property and effective tech transfer. As part of the National Dialogue on Entrepreneurship,
the Public Forum Institute is hosting a series of forums on
Capitol Hill to investigate these and other issues in an effort to define
a public policy agenda that promotes entrepreneurship.
