Marci Nielsen
Assistant Professor

University of Kansas Medical Center
Dr. Marci Nielsen is an Assistant Professor at the University of Kansas
School of Medicine and Assistant to the Dean for Health Policy. She
received a Ph.D. in Health Policy and Management from the Johns Hopkins
School of Public Health and a Masters in Public Health degree from the
George Washington University. Prior to joining the University of Kansas in
2002, she spent 10 years working in Washington DC. Marci served as a senior
legislative assistant for US Senator Bob Kerrey of Nebraska from 1994-1996,
and as the health care lobbyist and assistant director of legislation for
the national AFL-CIO from 1999-2001. Currently, Dr. Nielsen is participating
in Governor Sebelius' Task Force on Health Care Reform, a member of
Congressman Dennis Moore's Health Advisory Group, and a Task Force member
for the Kansas Public Health Systems Group. Dr. Nielsen's teaching and
research interests are in federal and state health policy, socioeconomic
disparities and health, health informatics, and professional ethics and
advocacy. |
