| In
the aftermath of the anthrax attacks in Washington, New York and
Florida last year, one of the biggest threats to our security is
lack of preparedness to respond to future acts of bioterrorism.
Although multiple efforts are currently underway in the public
and private sectors to fortify our biodefense network, gaps
remain in our public health infrastructure that inhibit
efficiently and effectively preparing communities to respond to
future threats.
Featuring
U.S.
Senator Bill Frist, M.D., and Mr. Sidney Taurel, chairman,
president and chief executive of Eli Lilly and Company, the
event highlighted the dangers of drug-resistant organisms and
emerging pathogens. and provided a fresh perspective on
potential partnerships and long-term solutions to strengthening
America’s biodefense.
